One never knows what the news will serve up when it comes time to write for The Ten. On this occasion, marking the passing of the U.K.’s longest serving monarch seems appropriate. The Queen that so many have only and always known.

I come from a family of royal watchers, hungrily digesting BBC programs, Netflix’s “The Crown,” and all those Lucy Worsley programs on PBS. Now we enter the reign of King Charles III- long known for promoting causes that were once on the fringe- environmentalism and organic farming, walkable communities and city planning, lower energy consumption. All very much in vogue now, so we’ll wait and report what happens next.
