The goal of the program is help new arrivals learn to get around independently.
We are celebrating 60 years of Maine Public telling Maine’s stories and we’ve put together 60 cool factoids about Maine Public and the content we have shared with our audience over the years. Here is factoid #58:
In 2015 we were feeling especially ambitious and decided to scour Maine for “the next great NPR voice.” Cue the launch of The Microphone Project. We created sample scripts and set up “recording sessions” at events throughout the year, including the Common Ground Country Fair. We chose a top voice, and that individual did the television voiceover work for the project’s sponsor, Goodwin Volvo. #mainepublic60
