The SNAP pause, a result of the government shutdown, came to an end on November 13 in Colorado. However, the two-week delay in SNAP recipients receiving benefits compounded what were already record-high levels of hunger in our region. We are continuing to prioritize getting as much food to our neighbors as possible. We are immensely appreciative of supporters like you who recognized the great stress the SNAP disruption caused for our community as well as Food Bank of the Rockies’ role in meeting this moment. Thanks to your help, we were able to: Source 80+ additional truckloads of emergency food to deploy across our entire service area through December Hire temporary drivers to deliver food to partners Increase the amount of protein, fresh produce, and other nutritious foods to distribute to our community Scale food distributed at our mobile pantries, especially in areas seeing increased need due to the SNAP pause
We are grateful to be in partnership with you during challenging times and continue to stay focused on our mission. Your inspired support made our emergency response possible. Thank you for being there for us and our neighbors. If you or someone you know is in need of food assistance, please utilize our network resources. Our Find Food Page shows all food resources available based on ZIP code. You can also call 2-1-1 to identify additional hunger-relief resources near you.
