Register Now to Join our NYCW Event on Biomass Carbon Removals and Storage: Opportunities and Challenges!

Dear Colleague,

Join experts from Clean Air Task Force (CATF) and other leading organizations to explore the findings of several recent reports on topics including sustainable sourcing, carbon crediting protocols, and community perceptions.

Rapidly scaling both greenhouse gas emissions reductions and removals is essential to achieve net-zero targets. When responsibly deployed, biomass wastes and residues from forest and agricultural lands offer an enormous opportunity for carbon dioxide removal with durable, long-term storage by leveraging the natural, solar-powered process of plant growth. Many biomass carbon removal and storage (BiCRS) systems are technologically mature, deliver additional environmental benefits, and create new pathways for organic waste management and landowner revenue. However, these systems still face cost, infrastructure, carbon accounting, supply chain, and public perception challenges.
