Right now, hunger levels locally and nationally are at a more than 10-year high. Across Colorado, nearly 13% of the population — 744,950 people — are living with food insecurity, including 172,540 kids. Those numbers are humbling, and they’re expected to increase over the coming months due to significant changes in food assistance programs. Day to day, we all are seeing the impact of high costs of living: at the grocery store, buying hygiene products, ensuring growing kids have clothing and shoes that fit them, caring for aging adults. As the price points for the basic items we all need to live comfortably continue to rise, so, too, do the challenges facing community members of all ages. From full-time working adults like Isabel to older adults on limited incomes and everyone in between, more of our neighbors are currently turning to Food Bank of the Rockies for help. “It’s hard to admit you need help. It’s really hard. I feel like I’m doing my best, but it feels like it’s not enough,” shared Isabel at a recent mobile pantry. That sentiment is echoed by the hundreds of thousands of people we serve every year. We will not waver in our mission to show up for anyone facing food insecurity, but we also recognize that these changes will lead to more people turning to the Food Bank and our Hunger Relief Partners for support. Right now, we're distributing enough food for 185,000 meals a day. It is only with your generous support that we can be there for all community members at all times with the nourishing food and hope that they need — that we all need — to thrive. In this video, we invite you to hear directly from some of our neighbors about the challenges they’re facing and how your support helps them find hope and stay nourished. Thank you for your support.
