2025 Holiday Calendar

Our updated 2025 Holiday Calendar is now available on Charlie! Whether you're scheduling time to relax with loved ones, coordinating projects, or planning events, this resource will ensure you’re prepared every step of the way. Please also remember that Children’s Aid is giving all staff two additional days off in 2025. The January 6 Weekly Dispatch included incorrect dates. The dates are Friday, December 26, and Wednesday, December 31.

New York Paid Prenatal Leave Law

Starting January 1, 2025, all employees will have 20 hours of paid prenatal leave each year under the New York State Paid Prenatal Leave Law. This entitlement will also be available to staff who work part-time or are overtime exempt.

Paid prenatal leave is a separate, stand-alone benefit from other leave laws and policies, such as New York State Sick Leave.

Eligible Employees and Permitted Uses of Leave

Paid prenatal leave may be used only by employees directly receiving prenatal health care services. These services include:

  • Physical examinations
  • Medical procedures
  • Monitoring and testing
  • Pregnancy-related discussions with health care providers
  • Fertility treatments
  • End-of-pregnancy appointments

Spouses, partners, or other support persons may not use paid prenatal leave to attend prenatal appointments with eligible employees.

Eligible employees are entitled to 20 hours of paid prenatal leave in a 52-week period. The 52-week period commences on the first day paid prenatal leave is used.

For more information, contact the Benefits Department at [email protected].

Our Employee Assistance Program is Rebranding

Starting January 1, 2025, our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) — formerly known as New Directions — will be rebranded as Lucet EAP. To access the program, please visit eap.lucethealth.com. You'll experience a new look and name while having continued access to the same valuable tools and resources. The company telephone number and company code will remain the same:

Phone Number: 800-624-5544
Company Code: CAS

Help Us Name the New Children’s Aid Podcast!

Children’s Aid will be launching a new podcast in 2025! We’re excited to share our story with Every Step of the Way, which will highlight the incredible impact that Children’s Aid has on the lives of children, youth, and families. In our first series, I’m a Children’s Aid Kid, you’ll hear from our remarkable alumni who have transitioned into successful adulthood. Through inspiring stories of resilience, growth, and transformation, we aim to raise awareness about our work and engage current and potential supporters.

We need your help to pick the perfect subtitle for our new podcast — one that captures the essence of our mission and resonates with listeners. Please take this quick survey to help us make our choice. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts! The survey will close today at 5:00 p.m.

Help Plan Next Year’s
Black History Month Celebration

Black History Month begins February 1, 2025, and we're excited to form a volunteer planning committee to shape this year’s agency-wide celebration! Committee members will help design all-staff events and communications throughout the month. We invite you to join and hope to engage voices from multiple programs and roles to make this celebration inclusive and impactful.

Planning will begin in the first half of January. If you’re interested in volunteering, please email Vanessa Lecorps at [email protected].
