General Election Day is Tuesday, November 5. Don’t forget to exercise your constitutional right to vote! This is your opportunity to directly influence the composition of our government.

For more information on important voting-related deadlines, please refer to the compiled voter registration information. Keep in mind the following dates:

• Saturday, October 26 to Sunday, November 3: Early voting period
• Tuesday, November 5: Election Day

The Office of Public Policy will also be hosting a webinar to highlight the importance of voting, review how individuals can register to vote, and share resources on how you can learn about the candidates and their platforms. The webinar will take place on:

• Thursday, October 31 at 12 p.m. Please register to attend.

Children’s Aid’s Time-Off Policy for Voting: Keep in mind that Children’s Aid employees may take up to three (3) hours off with pay at the beginning or end of a workday to vote in regularly scheduled federal, state, or local general elections. If an employee needs time off to vote, that employee must notify their supervisor at least two (2) days in advance of the election.

Employees should arrange with their supervisor to take the time off at the beginning or end of a working day.

The presentation^* explains how and where to vote; provides guidance on how to identify candidates on local, state, and federal levels; reviews state and local ballot proposals; and includes suggestions on how to create a voting plan.

Are Your Client Referrals Fantastic or Frustrating?

Do you love it when referring a client for services is seamless? Do you appreciate receiving a referral with all the necessary details? As we prepare to better support referrals among Children’s Aid programs and with external partners, we'd love to learn from your experiences. What makes a referral fantastic or frustrating? What best practices do you recommend? What are the biggest challenges you encounter?

The Office of Performance Management will be hosting a series of focus groups throughout November to learn how staff make and receive referrals. Availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.

NGC Attends LifeSet Partner Summit

Staff from the Next Generation Center (NGC) in the Bronx attended the LifeSet Partner Summit in Chicago last month, which brought together partners nationwide to learn, share, and grow. LifeSet Specialists Lalla Diakite and Janelys Araujo were selected to attend the event through a scholarship program. LifeSet Supervisor Janelle Donegal-Kumanova presented “Boosting Youth Engagement through C.A.R.E” at the summit, showcasing successful engagement strategies employed by staff in the NGC LifeSet program. Director Dawnette Artwell and Executive Vice President Georgia Boothe represented Children’s Aid and shared insights about the community center’s impact on Bronx youth.

Development Associate, Events – Development – Central, Manhattan

The development associate of events will report to the director of events to support fundraising and planning activities related to the strategic growth and expansion of $2+ million in revenue-generating and donor cultivation events. In addition, the development associate will drive the planning and execution of one cultivation event and manage our Children’s Aid TCS New York City Marathon and United Airlines NYC Half teams. This position will offer a substantive growth opportunity for an individual interested in developing a diverse set of transferable skills, including many aspects central to the work of Development departments.

Child and Family Therapist – CWFS, Manhattan

The Family Wellness Program (FWP) provides comprehensive trauma-informed services to families who are affected by intimate partner violence (IPV). We are seeking a full-time, bilingual Spanish/English master’s level mental health professional to serve as a therapist to provide trauma-informed individual and group counseling services to survivors of IPV and children exposed to IPV in the home. Services will be provided to families residing in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan.

Care Coordinator II – Health and Wellness, Staten Island

The Care Management Program assists families with ensuring eligible children receive the medical and behavioral health care services they need to promote optimal health by linking, accessing, and supporting families through service integration. The care coordinator is responsible for the overall provision and coordination of services to the assigned caseload. The care cooridnator guides program enrollees and their caretakers through the healthcare system by assisting with access issues, developing relationships with service providers, and tracking interventions and outcomes.
