Child Passenger Safety Week

Child passenger safety week is September 15 – 21 which is a week of increased communication dedicated to child passenger safety. “Every day in 2022, on average, three children under 13 were killed and 429 were injured in cars, SUVs, pickups, and vans. A total of 756 children were killed in passenger vehicles in 2022, and over 120,000 were injured.” Source

MADD believes that every child deserves a sober driver and that driving impaired with a child passenger in a vehicle is a form of child abuse. It should be a top priority to keep children safe on the roads which is done by having a sober driver, making sure they are using their seat belt and by having them in the correct car seat. Child Passenger Safety Week is the perfect time to make sure your child is in the right seat and that it’s installed correctly. Visit https://www.nhtsa.gov/campaign/right-seat for tips to keep your child as safe as possible in the car.

Victim Services Note from Isabelle Rhinehart:

Please consider joining us for our Richmond Walk Like MADD event THIS MONTH on September 28, 2024, at 9 am at Dorey Park in Henrico, VA! It is a really nice time for victim survivors to come together to walk, support one another, and honor their loved ones You can participate as a walker or create a team with your friends and family. We will have an area designated for victim survivors to make a sign in honor of their loved one or themselves if injured. If you would like to make a sign, please bring a photo of your loved one or yourself if injured to be glued to the sign. The link to the walk webpage is here if you are interested in checking it out a bit more: www.walklikemadd.org/richmond.
