General Election Information

New York State general election day is on Tuesday, November 7. We have the opportunity to directly impact the composition of our state and local government by participating in this important election. On the ballot this year:

  • City Council (local)
  • District Attorney (state)
  • Civil Court (state)
  • Ballot proposals (state)
    • Proposal 1: Removal of small city school districts from special constitutional debt limitation.
    • Proposal 2: Extending sewage project debt exclusion from debt limit.

We encourage you to exercise your voice by voting in the general elections. Not sure if you are registered to vote? Check your status. Not registered to vote? Register now.*

*Please note that the deadline to register to vote in this general election has passed. However, we encourage you to still register in order to participate in future election cycles.

In the meantime, please keep in mind the following dates and deadlines:

October 28 - November 5

Early Voting. Find your early voting site and hours.

November 6

Last day to apply in person for absentee ballot. Request an absentee ballot.

November 7

Election Day. You can vote from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Last day to postmark a ballot. Must be received by the local board of elections no later than November 14.
  • Last day to deliver a ballot in person to the local board of elections or to any poll site in your county. Find your poll site.

Children’s Aid Book Club

The first meeting of the brand new Children’s Aid Book Club was a success! The group will continue meeting on the first Friday of each month (through June). The discussion will continue around the book, “Punished for Dreaming,” by Dr. Bettina L. Love.

Register today to attend the next meeting this Friday, November 3, at noon.

Reading the book is encouraged, but not mandatory. Folks that may have missed last month should feel free to join in future months!


CWFS Staff Win Scholarships!

Congratulations to our CWFS superstar staff for recently winning scholarships!

A Beautiful Moment from the Benefit

We’re still celebrating the outstanding Children’s Aid Benefit, and we wanted to share one especially moving moment from it with all of you. Our keynote speaker, Emmanuel Ferreiras, shared his powerful story of leaving a dangerous home and finding a loving foster family. “You don’t know what it’s like to feel love the first time you get it,” he told the crowd.

Child and Family Therapist – CWFS, Manhattan

The Family Wellness Program (FWP) provides comprehensive trauma-informed services to families who are affected by intimate partner violence (IPV). Our goal is to help parents and their children who have experienced physical, emotional, or other forms of abuse to establish long-term safety and stability and heal from the traumatic effects of abuse and violence. We are seeking a full-time, bilingual Spanish/English master’s level mental health professional to serve as a therapist to provide trauma-informed individual and group counseling services to survivors of intimate partner violence and children exposed to IPV in the home. Services will be provided to families residing in the Bronx and Upper Manhattan. The therapist will report directly to the director of Clinical Intimate Partner Violence Services. Currently, this position is a hybrid schedule.

Senior Grants Accountant – Fiscal, Central, Manhattan

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to customer service, teamwork, process change and improvements, and in meeting deadlines. He or she will be detailed and systems orientated, have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written); have a high aptitude for analyses and critical thinking; and have the ability to multitask and prioritize. This position requires strong technical skills with nonprofit and government-funded financial systems. Salary will be commensurate with education and directly applicable experience.

Deputy Director of Education – Early Childhood, Manhattan

The Division’s deputy director of education will ensure that systems are running effectively so that all children reach developmentally appropriate milestones through the implementation of evidence-based curricula, individualized support, and high quality learning environments. By leading our 0-5 educational supports across the Division, the deputy director of education will focus on making sure that all the children and families will be ready to be successful in kindergarten and in life, while ensuring that all Head Start performance standards and specific funding regulations are met or exceeded.
