Families, we shared this update with our students, faculty and staff earlier this morning. We share it with you now for your reference.
Dear AU Community,
This summer, we launched the Airlie Berkshire Farm Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program. This program makes our Airlie Berkshire Farm’s fresh, local produce available to the AU community. To our Faculty and Staff subscribers who signed up and helped us exceed 50 subscribers this summer, thank you! Our goal this fall is to have more than 100 AU faculty, staff, students, families, alumni, and neighbors subscribe to the CSA. If we achieve that goal, the Farm will donate five additional shares to the Market – AU’s Food Pantry – which the Farm is proud to support by donating all surplus shares from each delivery day.
A CSA program is a direct-to-consumer farm offering that allows you to subscribe to the harvest of a farm. By participating in Airlie Berkshire Farm CSA, you become an integral part of the Berkshire Farm community and support sustainable agriculture while enjoying the benefits of fresh, seasonal produce.
Starting September 13, the Airlie Berkshire Farm CSA will offer a nine-week fall share through the early part of November. Each week, your subscription box will feature eight to ten pounds of seasonal herbs, fruits, and vegetables including squash, berries, broccoli, potatoes, and much more.
This fall, we are offering several options for the community to be a part of the CSA program:
-
Purchase a nine-week fall share for $325 each (about $36 per weekly box). Each week, Berkshire Farm will deliver boxes on Wednesdays for pickup at the AU Farmers’ Market on the Quad.
-
Let us know here if you are interested in buying a share each week for $40 on site. Each week we will do our best to bring additional individual shares to sell to members of the community on a first-come, first-served basis. Letting us know you are interested will help us plan accordingly.
-
For our families interested in purchasing a share for your student or a group of students to share, you can do so here. Please put the student or group of students’ names in the special instructions box, and we will be sure the share is ready for them each week.
Community members can also purchase a variety of our beef, pork, and vegetables for sale on site as available, or find the Airlie Berkshire Farm produce and meat offered in meals throughout the year at select AU dining venues.
If you have any questions or require further assistance, please feel free to reach out to the farm at [email protected].
Onward we go, together!
