Hi WHYY Passport fan,
Do you enjoy historical drama like I do? Then you've come to right place!
Through the lens of a well-crafted character, it is easier to make sense of history's broad strokes and understand its impact on those who lived it. For me, a good narrative gives context to events and brings them down to human scale.
So I was excited to binge Ridley Road, a compelling tale of love and activism set in London's turbulent 60s. Its protagonist, a young Jewish woman, infiltrates a neo-Nazi group to protect her community. It's based on true events!
This new Masterpiece series has inspired me to find some other dramas that evoke a time and place — the French Revolution, (one of) FDR's affairs, London's swinging 60s. It's all here!
Happy viewing!
Jen
P.S. Would you be this bold in the same circumstances?
