Our Global Regeneration Revolution The term regenerative agriculture is now being widely used, to the point that in some cases it can be seen as greenwashing and as a buzz word used by industrial agricultural systems to increase profits. RI’s response to The Ecologist In a recent article published by The Ecologist titled “The Regenerative Ranching Racket”, author Spencer Roberts engages in deliberate fraud and makes false claims in order to try to discredit regenerative ranching, the fastest growing agricultural movement in the world. RI International Director Andre Leu, wrote The Ecologist Editor Brendan Montague a response letter and, even though they sent back a generic answer, they have now pulled the article off their site. Dishonest articles like this are not only disturbing to the organizations and individuals named, but to the whole movement. We have a big enough struggle trying to change global frameworks in agriculture. We cannot afford to have intentional undermining of the energy and work of so many people with great integrity and passion who have been working hard to build the movement to where it is now. If you’d like to read The Ecologist false claims about regenerative agriculture (we were able to retrieve the article despite being deleted) and RI’s response to that continue reading: Read The Ecologist’ “The Regenerative Ranching Racket” Read “RI’s Response to The Ecologist’s “The Regenerative Ranching Racket”Sri Lanka to go 100% Organic The President of Sri Lanka gave a Presidential Directive on May 10, 2021 to form a “Presidential Task Force for the creation of a Green Sri Lanka with sustainable Solutions for Climate Change”. This Task Force has the aim to transform Sri Lanka’s farming using 100% organic fertilizer and pesticide systems as well as being a world leader in regenerating biodiversity to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Essential Reading Mercola Fights for Regenerative Agriculture by Supporting Biodynamic Farmers Leaders in natural health with a legacy rooted in sustainability, Dr. Mercola and his team promote the future of regenerative agriculture by working with biodynamic farmers to offer Demeter Certified Biodynamic® products in more categories than any other U.S. brand. Scientists from the U.S. Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory participated in a study that shows innovation in technologies and agricultural practices could reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from grain production by up to 70% within the next 15 years. Regenerative agriculture could save the world. But like so many good ideas, corporate marketing teams are already coopting regenerative agriculture into a meaningless buzzword. What is regenerative agriculture really? And how can you as a consumer separate the green from the greenwashed? The past year has shown us the importance of health as the world battles the Covid-19 pandemic. But, it is crucial to also not forget the health of our planet which is in crisis caused by climate change and the collapse of biodiversity as a result of exploitation of our natural resources. Kacie Scherler was a vegetarian on-and-off for 10 years, but when she was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease, the only diet that could heal her required her to eat animal meat — and she had to raise it herself. Scherler realized that caring for the climate and for human health are inextricably linked.

Regeneration International is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, dedicated to building a global network of farmers, scientists, businesses, activists, educators, journalists, policymakers and consumers who will promote and put into practice regenerative agriculture and land-use practices that: provide abundant, nutritious food; revitalize local economies; regenerate soil fertility and water-retention capacity; nurture biodiversity; and restore climate stability by reducing agricultural greenhouse gas emissions while at the same time drawing down excess atmospheric carbon and sequestering it in the soil.
