This week…

... Washington County is the focus of our “Climate Driven” series. This means we’ve made it to eight of Maine’s counties and will continue our trek to finish in Cumberland County in time for Earth Day 2023.

The mix of stories is good for Washington County. Come with us on a foliage leaf peeping trip, read on to understand how carbon offsets are protecting Maine forests, and learn why the promise of tidal power might not be quite what investors had hoped.

Across The Ten, we’ll also take a gander at secret sounds of silent animals, ponder how Viking runes made their way to Oklahoma, and gain insight into the influencers connecting with young people to give career advice.

Plus, Tuesday is Election Day and the Maine Public news team will have full coverage on radio, TV, and online. In this issue, you can read a great profile, highlighting the concerns of a group of young voters from immigrant backgrounds as they think about the election. We partnered with the Portland Press Herald to get some great portraits of these young people. I think you’ll like it!

Catch you later,

Mark
