Public media is at its best…

... when it exposes you to something new or unexpected.

I had that experience this week when I heard Murray Carpenter’s story about bobolinks. I’d never heard the word, never mind as the name of a bird that lives in Maine grasslands. Then I heard their call, and it was one of those public radio moments. Give it a listen.

A profile of another potential rising political star from Maine’s Somali-American community also caught my attention this week. She's one of those candidates to watch as the political season heats up: a possible hint as to the direction of political winds.

The 2022 Common Ground Fair is on (!) and in-person September 23 through the 25^th in Unity Maine. Recognizing the ongoing reality of COVID, the events and layout of the Fair have been reworked to reduce congestion and long lines, but will still feature the incredible educational opportunities, food, and marketplace vendors that Fairgoers know and love. AND Maine Public is very pleased to once again be a media sponsor of the Fair.
