“The world’s favorite season is the spring. All things seem possible in May.” The words of American naturalist Edwinn Way Teale, capturing the sense of anticipation here at Maine Public Classical as we look to the weeks ahead. In May, Maine Public Classical celebrates a milestone—ten years of broadcasting! No better way to mark this anniversary than to hit the road and share music over the airwaves surrounded by the beauty of this state and our wonderful listeners. Join us on Sunday May 3 at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay and Sunday May 10 at Broadturn Farm in Scarborough where we’ll be broadcasting live on site, with special editions of Sunday Brunch with Sarah Tuttle, 11am-3pm. A great opportunity to meet our hosts, see the show in action and enjoy nature’s bounty all around you. Wanna stop by? We’d love to see you there! In the meantime, our team has so much inspiration and heartfelt reflection to share right here in this edition! Emily invites you to make a sound map for Earth Day, I bring you the latest Listener Spotlight, featuring writer and photographer Coco McCracken, and to mark our anniversary, Sarah reminisces about the first decade of this radio service. Certainly not least, Gale shares a much-awaited announcement— the winner of our Classical Pets drawing! If that weren’t enough to fill your plate, we’ve also just rolled out fresh show logos, team photos and a listen back feature for locally hosted programs on our website. Even more reasons to visit us online! Whether spring sees you spending time with us in person, online or meeting us on the FM dial, we’re delighted you’re with us. Don’t forget! If you’re enjoying Encore, tell your music-loving friends and family to sign up, too! As always, all welcome. ❤ ~ Heather McDougall, Manager, Maine Public Classical |

Reminiscences
By Sarah Tuttle I’m enjoying a quiet spring morning, unusually sunny for April. It’s still a bit chilly, but I can’t help opening the windows for fresh air. A symphony of birdsong floats in from the old oak tree in front of my window – the buds haven’t even appeared yet. From my little kitchen…
