Tell your Senators to REJECT the “SAVE” Act!
The Senate is debating a dangerous voter suppression bill that would disenfranchise tens of millions of Americans. We must act NOW to stop this attack.

The so-called “SAVE” Act would make it harder for millions of Americans to cast their votes—especially LGBTQ+ voters, military voters, Tribal voters, rural voters, and tens of millions of married women and transgender individuals—while sowing disinformation about election integrity. The bill would require every single American citizen to provide very specific documents, such as a passport or birth certificate, in person when registering to vote or updating their voter registration. 

And if that wasn’t enough, due to pressure from the President, some Senators are trying to add anti-trans provisions to this already terrible bill that would target transgender youth. Join us in protecting the right to vote. Urge your senators to vote NO on the SAVE Act and to reject any anti-transgender amendments today!

Tell your Representatives to vote NO on the “Don’t Say Trans” bill!
A nationwide “Don’t Say Trans” bill has been introduced in Congress: H.R. 7661. If passed, it could censor LGBTQ+ voices, especially transgender voices, and force schools across the country to remove books from their libraries and force educators to remove references to transgender people and transgender issues from their lessons. Your member of Congress needs to hear from you NOW. Tell them public schools should be places where young people can learn, explore ideas, and see themselves reflected in the stories they read. Contact your Representative and tell them to OPPOSE H.R. 7661 and protect the freedom to read!

Idahoans 
The State Senate is one step away from passing HB 752 and sending it to the Governor. HB 752 would force both public and private entities to tell transgender people to use the bathroom and other sex-separated facilities based on their sex assigned at birth, rather than their gender. And to make matters worse, transgender people could face jail time if this becomes law, for simply using the restroom matching their gender identity. We cannot allow this discriminatory and harmful bill to become law. Reach out now and tell your State Senator to VOTE NO on HB 752! 

South Carolinians
The South Carolina Senate has passed its own version of House Bill 4756, an anti-trans facilities ban. The Senate amendments expand the bill in ways that create even more harm and legal risk than the version originally passed by the House. If the House agrees to those changes, the bill will go to the Governor.

While we oppose this bill in ANY form, we need House members to vote to not concur with the Senate amendments. This bill is moving fast. We need you to reach out NOW and tell your Representative to NOT CONCUR with the Senate version of H 4756!

State News

Kansas - Hearing in lawsuit challenging anti-trans bathroom ban and ID ban scheduled for September. A Douglas County judge will hold a hearing to address a request for a temporary injunction against SB 244, which forces transgender people to bathrooms aligned with their sex assigned at birth in government buildings, and prevents gender marker changes on driver’s licenses and birth certificates. 

Michigan - Senate Committee hears proposed constitutional amendment to overturn defunct same-sex marriage ban. The Senate Committee on Civil Rights, Judiciary, and Public Safety held a hearing on March 19th on a proposed constitutional amendment which would remove unenforceable language banning same-sex marriage from the state constitution. The ban was approved by voters in 2004 but has been defunct since the Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell v. Hudges in 2015. 

Montana - Gov. Greg Gianforte signs sex redefinition bill into law. The Governor signed SB 437 on March 24th, which defines “sex” in the state code as binary and based on reproductive anatomy. 

Pennsylvania - State House passes bill to repeal defunct same-sex marriage ban. The same-sex marriage bill passed with a broad bipartisan majority. The House did, however, delay a vote on the “Fairness Act,” which would ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, due to lack of support.

Tennessee - State House considers bill banning schools from requiring students to respect trans teachers’ preferred honorifics. The bill sponsor, Rep. Aron Maberry (R-Clarksville) said he introduced the bill because a teacher in his district requested students to use the honorific “Mx.” and that he believes students should not face consequences if they refuse to do so. 

Lawmakers advance gender-affirming care data collection bill. The bill requires insurers to that cover gender-affirming care to cover detransition-related care as well, but the bill also requires providers to report detailed information about gender-affirming care to the Tennessee Department of Health. Clinics providing gender-related care would be required to track and report the number of gender-affirming procedures performed, patient demographics such as age and sex, medications prescribed, and the patients’ county of residence. 

Texas - New Braunfels Independent School District (NBISD) pulls more than 1500 titles from library shelves. NBISD has either removed, restricted or “aged-up” more than 800 books from its middle schools, 600 from its high schools, 60 from its elementary schools since the passage of SB 13 last year. SB 13 ordered all public school libraries to review books for “profane” or “indecent” content and mandated the immediate removal of books challenged by parents while those materials are under review. Books removed from NBISD libraries include works by Shakespeare, President Obama, and actor Matthew McConaughey.

Federal News

Senate rejects SAVE Act amendment to ban trans women and girls from participating in sports. Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) introduced the amendment, which would have modified Title IX to ban trans women and girls from participating in school sports. The Senate rejected the amendment on a party-line 49-41 vote on March 21st.

Global News

International Olympic Committee - Trans women to be banned from participating in women’s events in 2028 Olympics. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) adopted a new eligibility policy on March 26th which aligns with the Trump Administration’s executive order on women’s sports released last year. The policy limits eligibility for women’s events to cisgender women.  

Nepal - First openly transgender lawmaker elected to Parliament. Bhumika Shrestha will be the first openly transgender person to serve as a Member of Nepalese Parliament. 

Poland - Supreme Administrative Court rules Poland must recognizer same-sex marriages performed in other E.U. countries. A same-sex couple who were married in Germany sued for their relationship to be recognized in Poland, where they reside. The E.U. Court of Justice ruled in their favor in November, and now the Supreme Administrative Court held that, as a member of the E.U., Poland must comply with E.U. law.  

United Kingdom - Sarah Mullally becomes first woman to serve as Archbishop of Canterbury. Mullally gave a sermon on March 25th in which she stated that the Church of England should be a “church for the whole nation and for the world, which looks for ways of joining with people of all faiths and none, in acts of service that will transform.”

Trans women and girls to be forced to leave Girlguiding groups. The organisation that oversees girl guide groups stated that transgender girls must leave the organisation by September. This follows up on a December announcement that Girlguiding groups would no longer allow transgender girls to join.
