Dear PFLAG Supporter, We are excited to share about our featured session at this year’s SXSW EDU in Austin, Texas. See below for information on how your chapter can watch the panel and promote the livestream with your members and community. On Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 2pm CT/3pm ET, join PFLAG for a featured session of SXSW EDU, Beyond Bans: Defending LGBTQ+ Stories & Literary Freedom. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones (she/her) will moderate a discussion with PFLAG National CEO, Brian K. Bond (he/him), #1 NYT bestselling author Casey McQuiston (they/them), and American Library Association President, Sam Helmick (they/them). The panel will discuss actionable solutions to preserve access to LGBTQ+ literature and stories amid discriminatory book bans. This timely panel discussion will explore effective solutions, including community partnerships between libraries, nonprofits, and cultural leaders; direct distribution programs; and grassroots advocacy that transforms resistance into sustained movements for literary freedom, helping LGBTQ+ youth feel safe, seen, and valued. Watch the livestream on the SXSW YouTube channel, and promote it with this toolkit from PFLAG National. Can’t make it for the livestream? You can watch the panel on-demand after March 11th on the SXSW YouTube channel and could be great for a chapter watch party! Thanks for everything you do,
