Dear Friend, Shakespeare and classical music have been enjoying 400 years of friendship, sparking creativity in composers and musicians for generations. This month on WETA Classical, we are celebrating this star-aligned friendship with ShakespeareFest, featuring nightly special features on-air, an extensive series of blogs, and more. And we're not alone in our celebrations! Be sure to check out the city-wide Shakespeare Everywhere Festival, presenting 12 shows in 12 weeks across the DMV. We can say so much as to why Shakespeare-inspired music delights our senses to this day, but we'll leave it to the master... Be not afeard, the isle is full of noises, Sounds, and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not. Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments Will hum about mine ears… –Caliban, Act III scene ii, The Tempest Looking forward to celebrating with you, Jim Allison Program Director
