Worship Resources and Events

“Our Lenten path leads through the wilderness and toward the cross, toward the font, and finally toward the new light of Easter.” This quotation, from Worship Guidebook for Lent and the Three Days, clearly identifies the course we have taken during these 40 days.

As we near the end of our Lenten journey and approach the great Three Days, culminating in the 50-day feast of Easter, may you find time to pause, take a deep breath, and enjoy the abundance of gifts we have received, especially the privilege to lead God’s people in worship.

Thank you for your leadership and your care for the worship life of the church.

Love Astounding

Love Astounding: Hymns of Jeannette M. Lindholm

This collection contains 23 hymns by Jeannette M. Lindholm, hymns that give careful and thoughtful voice to the mystery and wonder of God and God’s people. Her poetry invites us not only to sing but also to examine and expand the metaphors we use for God in our worship and devotion.

Lindholm’s Introduction is also a brilliant essay on the particular ways she considers language, word choice, and poetic construction to explore and proclaim theology. Indexes by topic, Scripture, and meter make this a useful volume for church musicians, pastors, and all who plan worship.

Additional product and resource suggestions from the publishing ministry of the ELCA are available on the ELCA Worship blog.
