NEW FROM ELCA WORSHIP

If you are a Sundays and Seasons subscriber, please take this brief survey regarding your familiarity with and use of the New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition (NRSVue) and the Readings for the Assembly (Emended).

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT…

The Thirteenth Assembly of The Lutheran World Federation was held in Kraków, Poland, Sept. 13-19. Worship was an integral part of the assembly, exploring and celebrating the deep and powerful ways in which the Spirit creates, reconciles and renews amid a fragmented world. Access the LWF Assembly worship and Bible study materials or view the recordings of worship at the assembly.

Readings for the Assembly (Emended)

Since fall 2022, subscribers to SundaysAndSeasons.com have had access to a provisional-use resource: an emended version of Readings for the Assembly. These updated readings from the Revised Common Lectionary strive for accurate biblical translation while attending to contemporary patterns of inclusive speech.

All Creation Sings

Brand new to the ACS Family this month is the All Creation Sings Braille Edition: Assembly Song. This edition presents the words of All Creation Sings #901–1100 (Assembly Song) on braille-embossed pages. Congregation leaders are invited to provide a copy for each braille-reading worshiper’s use.

Call to Allyship

How can churches do the work of becoming allies for the leaders they call? In belonging to a predominantly white denomination, ELCA members are called to listen and learn from its leaders of color to recognize the assumptions, biases, and harmful actions that result when congregations don’t do the work to become allies. In Call to Allyship, contributing authors offer wisdom, storytelling and concrete suggestions for churches preparing to call a leader of color. Call to Allyship is a must-read for call committees, church councils, social justice teams and anyone prepared to do the work of understanding, welcoming and celebrating these leaders.

Additional product and resource suggestions from the publishing ministry of the ELCA are available on the ELCA Worship blog.
