Tell the EPA to protect bees and other pollinators by BANNING neonic pesticides!

Over the last two and a half decades, the beloved Western Bumblebee population has dropped 93%, and toxic pesticides called neonics play no small part in that decline.

But the EPA is poised to approve these BEE-KILLING chemicals for another 15 YEARS!

Pollinators, ecosystems, and our food system cannot afford another 15 YEARS of neonics. The EPA’s decision to approve these toxic pesticides would be a CATASTROPHIC mistake -- but it could very well happen without your help.

To the EPA:

I urge the EPA to ban neonicotinoid pesticides to protect pollinators, endangered species, and other wildlife. There is overwhelming evidence demonstrating that neonicotinoids harm pollinators, and the EPA found that three of the most commonly used neonicotinoid insecticides threaten the continued existence of more than 200 endangered plant and animal species. In addition, emerging evidence associates neonicotinoids with harm to human health.

The United Nations estimates that 40 percent of invertebrate pollinator species, including species of bees and butterflies, face extinction. In recent years, U.S. beekeepers have lost an average of 40 percent of their hives annually. Over the last twenty years, monarch butterfly populations have declined by nearly 90 percent. According to a meta-analysis of research on insect declines, neonicotinoids and other pesticides are one of the leading factors impacting insect populations.

Neonicotinoid pesticides pose a significant threat to many critical species. I urge the EPA to ban neonicotinoids immediately.
