Coral reefs are called “rainforests of the sea” due to their vital role in our ocean ecosystems. Rich with biodiversity, these iconic structures are home to endangered sharks, turtles, fish, and other ocean creatures.

But several of these underwater natural habitats are being EXPLOITED and DEMOLISHED by the greedy cruise industry bringing in huge ships along with dirty pollutants, toxic waste, and destructive construction.

We MUST demand accountability from Big Cruise before the last of the world’s precious coral reefs are tragically DESTROYED FOREVER.

Dear EPA,

I write to you because I am concerned with the amount of cruise ship pollution that is harming our oceans and destroying coral reefs.

Last year, Disney Cruise started construction of a $250 million cruise ship pier at Lighthouse Point in the Bahamas that will stretch completely over the valuable marine resources and coral reefs where several endangered species flourish. Aside from the invasive development itself, the increase in cruise ship traffic and passengers will cause irreparable damage, pollution, and disruption to sensitive habitats of marine life.

Coral reefs play a vital role in our ecosystem — rich with biodiversity and geological features. They are home to endangered turtles, sharks, fish, and other ocean creatures.

If we are going to save more precious coral reefs from being decimated by Disney Cruise and other corporations in the cruise ship industry, we MUST take immediate steps now before it’s too late.

I am urging you to take action to protect more coral reefs from projects like this and to stop cruise ship pollution from hurting our environment.
