REIN IN corporate factory farms!

Right now, factory farming corporations are dominating small and family-owned farms to the detriment of our communities, animals, and the planet. YOU can help change that – Congress could pass the Farm System Reform Act and transform our agricultural system away from one that values profit above all else.

Factory farms are often located in Black, brown, Indigenous, and low-wealth communities where they POLLUTE the air and water, MISTREAT workers, THREATEN wildlife habitats, and DUMP animal waste into fecal lagoons.

There is no excuse for Congress to continue supporting this TOXIC industry. That’s why this bill is so important. Your Members of Congress need to hear from you!

Dear Member of Congress,

As your constituent, I am writing to respectfully request your support for the Farm System Reform Act (S.271/H.R.797). This legislation will strengthen the Packers and Stockyards Act to create a more fair and competitive livestock market, restore mandatory Country of Origin Labeling, and provide funding for a voluntary buyout to enact a just transition away from industrial models of livestock raising.

Our current hyper-concentrated, vertically integrated model for meat production is failing everyone along the supply chain. Farmers are going broke, meatpacking workers face unsafe conditions and are paid inadequate wages, consumers don’t trust the corporations controlling the food system, communities living near industrial animal facilities face pollution and other health risks, and farmed animals are treated inhumanely. Large multinational meatpacking corporations are the only ones who benefit.

Instead, I want to see Congress build a fair and sustainable food system as envisioned by the Farm System Reform Act. Please do all within your power to pass this legislation.
