Ukraine is the top story of the week again.

This week our newsletter highlights Mainers who are trying to help Ukrainians flee the fighting.

I’m also going to highlight three stories that are not about Ukraine this week.

One is a collaboration between fashion house Ralph Lauren and historically black colleges and universities to celebrate black fashion with a modern/midcentury twist.

There’s also a BBC profile of a particular episode of the Star Trek series, Deep Space Nine. This episode presents an analogy about the black experience during the U.S. Civil Rights era touching on arts and culture, reform, and the limits of what was perceived as tolerable by society. The performance also finds signature cast members acting without their Starfleet costumes or character makeup. It a must for Trek fans and a powerful performance from actor Avery Brooks.

In a similar pop culture vein we’re also highlighting The Godfather, as that landmark film marks 50 years.
